Mary was born and raised in the British Midlands as an English country girl and was British through and through with her name of Mary Waterfield. She was only 5 when her family migrated via boat to Australia, following her mother’s family who had already started to move across and landed in Australia just in time to start school!
They lived in northern NSW in Coffs Harbour for a few years before her family went back to farming after leasing a farm in the inner West of NSW. Parents of Dairy Farmers and being the only child, she had a ball learning to drive a Tractor!! and being very much a tomboy (the son her dad never had), you could just imagine the teasing she got as a child. Through High School, Mary played Competitive Volley Ball and loved it! She decided to not continue working on the land with her parents, much to her Dads sadness, and instead pursued a career in Sales, where she has spent most of her working life out on the road.
She has travelled parts of the globe with her husband to destinations such as Malaysia and Europe. Her best memories come from her 5-week trip around Europe with her hubby – where they nearly had 5 divorces as they decided to hire a car and be their own guide, not realising how hard it was to read road maps in other languages!! ( this was prior to GPS !!). She has been to Hawaii twice after winning 2 incentive tickets from her previous workplaces, and of course, has explored much of our own beautiful country.
Mary has 3 sons and loves spending time with them and their families and her friends, that all share a great sense of humour. As she says it, “I look forward to enjoying more fun days with them!”
