Description
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Robin D’Rozario is enjoying working from his brand new practice an hour and a half south of Sydney in the thriving suburb of West Wollongong.
Dr D’Rozario moved from his hometown of Adelaide to the area two decades ago shortly after finishing his OMF training and now felt it was time for a fresh start. “We started looking around the local area for somewhere suitable and my wife actually found the premises. It was originally three narrow, shallow shopfronts and they were very dark and dingy. I came and had a look and said you must be joking! I couldn’t see how it would work but fortunately my wife had the vision!”
Dr D’Rozario had opened a branch practice in temporary premises in the Sydney suburb of Manly recently and attended the opening of the practice of Drs Roger Hammond and Steve Moate, two of his orthodontic colleagues, in neighbouring Balgowlah. “Roger and Steve’s practice looked great so I asked them who had designed it and they then introduced us to Anne Levitch from Levitch Design Associates.” Read more by visiting ‘Article Library’…
On his new surgery design, Dr Robin D'Rozario says:
“After Levitch Design Associates completed the design, we hired our own builders who we’d used on our home…LDA provided a full specification for the builder, chose fixtures and fittings and helped with the colour scheme. It was all very straightforward and where possible we worked around the clock.”
The new practice looks stunning and white is the dominant colour as Dr D’Rozario wanted a crisp, clean, professional look.
“I’ve heard all the arguments about white being very cold and sterile and how colours can make a difference - my brief was for clean and professional, and LDA honoured my wishes. Where their input was invaluable, however, was with their choice of contrasting colours. They really add a vibrancy to the practice that I never would have considered otherwise. It could have looked ordinary but now looks extraordinary.”
